About

Aaron Payne

A bald man wearing a dark suit, white shirt, and tie, smiling slightly with a gray background.

A golfer for over 35 years with experience in every facet of the golf industry. I’ve been privileged to work under four lifetime PGA Members, three of whom have been elected to their local Hall of Fame. From working at a driving range in High School to the grounds crew in College, then spending time at every level of Club Professional, and ultimately operating all aspects of a Country Club, I can now add Master Club Fitter to my name.

In addition, I've taught hundreds of lessons, run multiple Junior Clinics, assisted and coached a High School golf team, and even worked as a rules official. A member of the USGA since 1994, Team Titleist since 2004, US Kids Golf Certified Golf Coach, PGA of America Associate, and finished Ohio State University's Golf Management Program with Distinction. Outside of golf, I’ve run a successful small business, and I’m now privileged to put all of these experiences together to create Aaron Payne Golf.

Given the self-taught swing that I refined by banging golf balls against the barn growing up, it’s my opinion that the golf swing is not rocket science and can be mastered with simple techniques that most people can easily understand. I fundamentally believe that golf should be made simple and fun.

Danny Payne

The Man, The Myth, The Legend, and the only reason that Aaron Payne Golf exists. My father was the hardest-working man I've ever met and was always willing to help people in need. Doing the right thing was always his priority, and he did his best to live a principled life.

A life that was tragically cut short by a fatal heart attack. He had so much more life to live, and I miss him every day. I hope to keep his spirit alive by living a principled and healthy life.

Please consider donating to the American Heart Association in my father's memory at the Danny Payne Memorial Fund.

My First Club

A golf club lying on a wooden floor.

It's an old Jack Thompson 3 wood cut down to 26 inches. I'm not sure where my Dad got it. I've never seen another one like it, and I haven't been able to find a lot of information on it, but I'm pretty sure it was a garage sale find. My Dad cut it down and even created a cone-shaped plug for the top of the handle to give it the proper angle.

My First Target

An old, weathered wooden barn with mismatched planks in a rural setting.

Growing up in the heart of Findlay, Ohio, right across the street from the University of Findlay, you wouldn't think I would have a barn in my childhood backyard, but I did. I'm actually incredibly thankful for this barn because it gave me the freedom at a very young age to hit full shots in my backyard. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. I don't think you can see it in the picture, but there were marks in the wood that resembled a monster’s face; this always served as my target.

Popcorn

A happy tan and white dog with large ears sitting on a beige carpet in a living room, smiling with closed eyes and tongue out, with a wooden cabinet and small potted plant in the background.

Last but definitely not least, this is Popcorn. He is my best friend and the official mascot of Aaron Payne Golf. When I’m not at the course, I’m spending time with this adorable little creature. I adopted him in 2020 from the local Humane Society, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. Please consider doing the same by visiting the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County.
